Scan privacy
When you scan one of our QR codes, we count the scan so our print customers can see how their mailing performed. Here’s exactly what that means:
- We record the time of the scan, which code was scanned, and the general type of device (phone, tablet, computer).
- We do not store your IP address. A scrambled, short-lived fingerprint is kept for a few days only to filter out duplicate and automated scans, then deleted.
- At the moment of a scan we estimate the general metropolitan area it came from (for example, “Atlanta metro”) using a lookup file stored on our own servers — no outside tracking service is involved. This is city/metro accurate at best; it is never tied to your street address or to you as a person, and your IP address is discarded right after.
- We don’t know who you are, and we don’t try to find out.
- Results are reported at the neighborhood or metro level, never about any individual scan.
